Call for Applications – Chipata Consumer Council

The Energy Regulation Act No. 12 of 2019 mandates the Energy Regulation Board (ERB) to regulate the provision of energy products and services in Zambia.

In order to help the ERB handle complaints from energy consumers, the Act mandates the ERB to establish Consumer Councils in any part of the country. Consumer Councils will be an extension of the regulatory arm of the ERB and will be responsible for handling complaints from energy consumers and conducting awareness programmes on energy issues.  The work of Consumer Council members is voluntary but logistical support is provided by the ERB.

The ERB, therefore, invites applications from members of the public wishing to volunteer as members of the CHIPATA Consumer Council.

Qualifications and Attributes:

  1. Above 21 years;
  2. At least Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent;
  3. Resident in Chipata;
  4. No criminal record;
  5. A consumer of energy services such as fuel, electricity, coal, gas and solar;
  6. Willing to work on a voluntary basis;
  7. Experience in community service;
  8. Knowledge of the local language(s);
  9. Knowledge of energy issues will be an added advantage.
