The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) is a statutory body responsible for regulating the energy sector and derives its mandate from the Energy Regulation Act No.12 of 2019.
The Zambia Bureau of Standards (ZABS) is a statutory body established under an Act of Parliament, the Standards Act No. 4 of 2017 for the preparation and promulgation of Zambian Standards.
Section 4(h) of the Energy Regulation Act provides that the ERB, in collaboration with the ZABS, designs standards with regard to the quality, safety, and reliability of the supply of energy. In this regard, the ERB, in consultation with ZABS and supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Alternatives to Charcoal (A2C) Project, along with input from other stakeholders, have developed the following Draft Zambian Standards:
- DZS 908 – 1: Biogas Systems – Code of Practice
- DZS 908 – 2: Biogas Systems – Biogas Grids
- DZS 1273 : Biogas (Biomethane) – Specification

This notice is an invitation for the public, as well as interested and affected parties, to submit comments on the aforementioned Draft Zambian Standards.
